    Ende gut, alles gut!

Samstag 04. April: 15:00 Van bei Sunrise RV angeben

Sonntag 05. April: 13: 00 Fank landet in CHC

Dienstag: 07.

We are very interested in purchasing your van but we do have some real reservations about it and these are making it very hard to come to a decision.

    The “plus” side:-
We are very happy with the mechanical side of the van and the way it has been well looked after.
The low mileage is very good for a van of this age.
It is very nice to have met you and know that you are such nice young women whom we feel we can trust. (I hope you feel the same).

    The “negative”side:-
Obviously, just before winter is not the ideal time to purchase a campervan as it is unlikely to be used much before next summer, so that is 7 months of insurance, registration etc.
It really is NOT properly fitted out for sale as a “campervan”. It’s really a van with a sink and a bed. The new squabs for the bed are good but the rest is not a professional fit-out - just unfinished plywood.
The utilization of the space is not maximized as they do in a professional fit-out. We have done much research and in a van of this size most campervans have much better cupboards, cook top, fridge, some even a microwave, plus comfortable seating at a table.

Because of this, we feel that your asking price is unrealistic.

On this basis, we would like to offer you what we feel is a realistic price of XYZ NZD ( = die Hälfte von dem was wir haben wollten!) which would be deposited into your bank account immediately.

    Dear Poppers,

Since we get ABC NZD from Sunrise RV / Christchurch when we drop our van on Saturday there, we obviously won’t give the van away for lesser than that!

They are actually very keen to sell the van on our behalf, as they were positive with such a low mileage and the outstanding condition the van is in they will be able to sell the van within 2 weeks.

We have evaluated the Van at different RV places and at Turner’s Auction in Christchurch and they all said ABC NZD is a realistic price.

Concerning the fit out, Turner’s, Sunrise RV and the other places told us, that this should not be an obstacle for us in selling the van, because the important things: sink (with hot and cold water), proper upholstery and the electricity supply are all fitted. New cupboards etc. are only a so called “nice to have” but not a “must have” …

Hope that gives you another thought about this fantastic van!?

    Hi again,

2 things I would query: -  One is that it is very unlikely that Sunrise RV would get ABC NDZ for your van unless they did a LOT of work to the interior. One only has to look on the internet to see that much newer vehicles (2000 - 2003) are nowhere near that price.

Secondly, I would be very surprised if it sold in 2 weeks. It has been on Trade Me since February and has not sold. The market is flooded with 2nd hand campervans for sale at this time of year and buyers are not so keen to buy just before winter, especially in the tough economic times we are now in.

We agree that the van is in great condition and the low mileage is its best feature. With this in mind we can increase our offer to a maximum of “eine Frechheit mehr als das erste Angebot!”

If you are waiting for Sunrise RV to sell on your behalf, you could be waiting a long time for your money, whereas if you sell to us, the money would be in your bank account and earning interest from tomorrow.

    Dear Poppers

we had a quick stop at Sunrise RV this afternoon and talked to the owner once more and nothing has changed for us. We just wanted to make sure that there is no hurry on both sides to sell the van (which absolutely isn’t) quickly.

Sunrise RV is still optimistic that the van will be sold quickly. Nevertheless they will try to sell the van on our behalf until it’s sold under the conditions (price) we agreed, even if it should take months…

Of course, it is a tempting offer to have the full amount on our account as soon as possible (in the case we would give the van to you), but please understand, that concerning the above mentioned conditions for us, we don’t want to give the van away for a price we do not feel comfortable with.

Especially after we have spoken to many different car dealers etc. who evaluated the van. The only reason the asking price for this kind of van is so low is of course the time of year and economic circumstances. But both circumstances are (hopefully) going to change and the value and the asking price of the van will definitely increase.

Nevertheless, should you change your mind, we are still happy to sell the van to you. Then, at least we know who is going to enjoy this great van. ;-) And we certainly would like it to be you!

Please just let us know, before we drop off the van at 3 pm tomorrow, ok?

    Josie & Ulli

PS: Please note that (only of course if you should still be interested) we need to make sure that following points are taken care of before we give away the van: we need to change the ownership, get a signed selling contract and at least a receipt saying that the full amount is transferred to our bank account.

    Hi Ulrike and Josie

We don’t want to give up on purchasing your van just yet as it would be ideal for our purposes and so easy for the transaction to take place as our son is in Christchurch. But the very most we can offer is immer noch viel zu wenig.

You say that the economic circumstances are going to change for the better, but in New Zealand we are only just beginning to feel the effects of what has been going on for some time already in America and Britain. It will be a long time before people here will feel confident enough to spend money on non-essential recreational items.

Our offer of immer noch viel zu wenig. payable by electronic transfer into your bank account tomorrow, (so you can see the receipt of the money) is not so far short of the ABC NZD you may have to wait months for, and this way you could leave the country and continue your travels with no worries in this regard, and know that your van will be going to a good home where it will be loved and enjoyed.

Please consider this offer seriously as we cannot financially extend ourselves further than this.

We can only be contacted up till 11.30am tomorrow morning as we then have to take our sick cat to the vet for an operation and will not be home before 2pm, which is a bit close to your 3pm deadline.

    Best wishes
    Poppers

    Hello again,

thanks for your email. Sorry to hear that your cat is sick…

To be absolutely honest, we are a little bit tired of negotiating about the price which is absolutely reasonable.

We told you the price Sunrise RV is giving us (no matter when we will receive this) and we already reduced the price and immer noch viel zu wenig would be not acceptable.

Nevertheless, the perspective for us to have the money straight onto our bank account makes it worth for us to offer you the van for einen unbedeutenden Hauch weniger, als wir eigentlich haben wollten, but this price is no further negotiable and we won’t go any further than that.

We seriously hope that we’ve come to an end now where we are all happy with!?

    Josie & Ulli

PS: We really think, that at the end of the day, it would be sad to let this opportunity for you slip away… Since there is always a personal value of things as well, right?

    Good morning Ulrike and Josie

It would be really good if we could come to a compromise. We have offered immer noch viel zu wenig. You have come back with einen unbedeutenden Hauch weniger, als wir eigentlich haben wollten.
If we can meet in the middle then your van could be sold today.

We will be at home until 11.30am when we have to take the cat to the vet to have an operation on a kidney tumour. We are able to communicate up to that time and after 1.30 or 2pm.

    Saturday, 04. Apr 2009 09:03 AM
    Dear Poppers,

We have already come down ein paar NZD and can all feel comfortable with, right?
Please transfer the amount (=einen unbedeutenden Hauch weniger, als wir eigentlich haben wollten.) to my bank account:

All the best for your cat’s operation. Hope she will do fine.
Our windscreen appointment is at 10:30, so you can reach us after 10 am on our mobile.

    Josie & Ulli
PS: We’re happy to hear that you finally made up your mind and would like to take this van!

    Weiter ging es per Telefon:

    Sms: 10:10:43
S will be home from work at about 11:20 am. We will ring u to discuss the van then. T

    Sms: 12:41:14
Wheel alignment? I will try to arrange pick up for today. Or a drop off address.

    Unsere Antwort:

    Sms: 13:12:50
Ok. Please fax contract. We will sign and return.

    Sms: 14:27:55
Please allow us an hour. We must bury our cat. I will send fax in about an hour. Thanks.
